Prizes and Grants for Translations

Prizes and Grants to the translation of literary and scientific works (including digital format) and to the production, dubbing or subtitling in foreign languages of short films, feature films and television series – CALL FOR 2024

 

The call for applications for Prizes and Grants for the distribution of Italian books through the translation into foreign language of literary and scientific works (also on digital support) and for the productiondubbing and subtitling of short films and feature films and television series has been published.

TYPES OF FINANCIAL INCENTIVES:

Publishers, translators, production/distribution/dubbing and subtitling firms, cultural and international institutions, literary agents/agencies can apply for two types of incentives:

Grants

  • incentive for translation and publication (also in digital format) of Italian literary and scientific works, to be published not before August 1, 2024;
  • incentive for production, dubbing or subtitling in foreign languages of short films, feature films and television series that will be released on a date not prior to August 1, 2024.

Prizes

  • incentive for Italian works (also in digital format), including short films and feature films and television series for mass media circulation, which have already been disseminated, translated, produced, dubbed, subtitled not before 1 January 2024.

PROCEDURES FOR SUBMITTING APPLICATIONS FOR PRIZES AND GRANTS

Applications must be submitted exclusively using the APPLICATION FORM, in Italian or English. Requests complete with all documents listed in the announcement must be sent to iicwashington@esteri.it  with email subject “Premi traduzioni bando 2024” by April 24, 2024.

 

INADMISSIBILITY:

Grants applications relating to a work already published, distributed, translated or dubbed on or before the date of the application, or the publication of which is foreseen before 1st August 202 4 (that is, before the completion of the awarding procedure), will not be taken into consideration.

Applications requiring a grant higher than the cost of the whole project will not be taken into consideration.

Furthermore, the contribution awarded by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) should not be a binding condition for the fulfillment of the translation, distribution, production, publication, dubbing and subtitling of the work.

Applications for works already awarded grants by other Italian institutions will not be taken into consideration.
