We are pleased to present the audiobook From the Dark Wood to Paradise. A journey through Dante Alighieri’s Divine Comedy in thirty-three languages, published by Emons Audiolibri. The audiobook, produced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation on the occasion of the celebrations of Dante’s centenary in 2021, allows you to listen to a wide selection of the poem in thirty-three different languages.
A guided tour through the three canticles of Hell, Purgatory and Paradise: a unique tool of its kind to discover or rediscover an exceptional poem that continues not only to arouse the interest of readers of every country, but to nourish the inspiration of artists, writers, musicians, film and theater directors. Conceived and designed by the General Directorate for the Country System of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the audiobook From the dark forest to Paradise was created thanks to the collaboration of thirty-two Italian Cultural Institutes that sent the recording in their own language pertaining to a reading of selected passages from the Divine Comedy, performed by local actors.
The Italian version was entrusted to Marco Martinelli and Ermanna Montanari of the Teatro delle Albein Ravenna, who have been carrying out research on Dante’s poem for years. Sponsored by the National Committee for Dante’s Celebrations, by the Dante Society and by the Dante Group of the ADI (Associazione degli Italianisti), the project was carried out in partnership with the Municipality of Ravenna and thanks to the scientific care of two well-known Danteists, Alberto Casadei (University of Pisa) and Sebastiana Nobili (University of Bologna-Ravenna). A QR code allows you to download the 33 versions of the poem for free, which will still be available, always free of charge, on Spreaker, Spotify, Deezer, Apple e Google.
The thirty-three languages of the audiobook are: Italian, Albanian, Arabic, Bulgarian, Catalan, Czech, Chinese, Korean, Croatian, French, Hebrew, Finnish, Gaelic, Japanese, Greek, Indonesian, English, Lithuanian, Maltese, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Slovakian, Slovenian, Spanish, Swahili, German, Turkish, Ukrainian, Hungarian.
