Emma and Antonio have been separated for nearly a year. Emma moves back to her mother’s house with her two children. One night, gunshots are heard and the police are called. The movie, based on the novel by Melania Gaia Mazzucco by the same title, describes the events that took place 24 hours before that night.

Ferzan Özpetek
Director and screenwriter Ferzan Özpetek was born in Istanbul in 1959. He moved to Italy in 1978 to study History of Cinema at the University “La Sapienza” in Rome. He completed his training by attending courses in art history and costume at the Navona Academy and the Accademia di Arte Drammatica “Silvio d’Amico”. In 1982 he worked as assistant director with Massimo Troisi for the movie “Scusate il ritardo”. “Il Bagno Turco – Hamam”, which was an immediate success in Italy and abroad, was his debut as a director in 1997. In 1999 he made “Harem suare”, followed by a “Un certo sguardo” which was screened at international festivals in Toronto, London and Palm Springs. In 2001 he directed “Le fate ignoranti”, probably his greatest success. The creative work of Ozpetek continued with “La finestra di fronte” (2003), “Cuore sacro” (2004), “Saturno contro” (2007), “Un giorno perfetto” (2008), “Mine vaganti” (2010), “Magnifica presenza”(2012), and “Allacciate le cinture” (2014).
