The Italian Cultural Institute of Washington and the Italian Program at the University of Maryland are pleased to invite you to a conversation on Italian cinema in the ’60s as part of Il Cinema Ritrovato On Tour film festival.
This year the festival will open on March 4 with a conversation about Italian cinema in the 1960s at the Italian Cultural Institute of Washington. A singularly rich moment in the history of Italian cinema, the 1960s saw the emergence and affirmation of a new group of filmmakers that explored the complexities of Italian society at the time, from the Economic Miracle to the cultural and political turmoil of 1968.
The conversation will feature Monica Seger, Professor of Italian Studies at the College of William and Mary, and Saverio GIovacchini, Professor of History and Cinema & Media Studies at the University of Maryland. The conversation will be moderated by Mauro Resmini, Associate Professor of Italian and Cinema & Media Studies at the University of Maryland.
