Antonio Monda is a novelist and the author of books on cinema and culture. He is professor of film studies at NYU and the literary critic for the Italian newspaper La Repubblica. He has also directed several documentaries and a feature film.

“Every Sunday, Antonio Monda hosts one of New York most prestigious salons along with his wife Jacquie in their sun drenched living room facing Central Park.
“Come for brunch at 1:30, we’ll have some friends over”, is the informal invitation via phone you can receive. The friends will turn out to be an incredible mix of A list thinkers, writers, actors, and directors. Where else you can meet – and talk to- Al Pacino and Gabriele Salvatores, Philip Roth and Colum McCann, Nathan Englander and Paul Auster, Meryl Streep and Ethan Cohen (and many many more)?
A driving force in the intellectual arena, Monda thought it would be nice to duplicate his New York salotto for a broader audience in one of the most beautiful places in the world, the isle of Capri. In 2006, along with his longtime friend and business partner Davide Azzolini, he started Le Conversazioni: Scrittori a confronto, a literary festival which takes place every last weekend of June-first weekend of July, in the picturesque Piazzetta Tragara. Here at 7 ‘o clock, Monda moderates a conversation on an incredible range of topics with famous, emerging and promising Anglo-Saxon writers together with special appearances of musicians and movie directors, and important figures of Italian culture.
Since May 2009, Monda also hosts a spinoff of Le Conversazioni (subtitle: Dialoghi sulla bellezza) at the Morgan Library & Museum in New York. He is also the cofounder of Open Roads, New Italian Cinema a festival which takes place every June at Lincoln Center in New York, and serves on the Advisory Board of the Rome Film Festival.
