Join us for a free performance – hosted by Politics and Prose Bookstore and the Italian Cultural Institute of Washington – by Filippo Capobianco, Italian actor, author and performance poet, LIPS 2022 National Champion and 2023 World Champion of Poetry Slam. Capobianco will be performing poetry from his first book “Supernovae don’t make a sound and you cough in theaters?” (Baldini+Castoldi, Milan, 2024), combining science and literature through an innovative form: the hybridization of the languages of poetry, novel and play-writing.
This event is in English and Italian, with subtitles.

ABOUT FILIPPO CAPOBIANCO
Filippo Capobianco was born in Pavia, in 1998, and is an Italian actor, author, and performance poet. He is the LIPS 2022 National Champion and the 2023 World Champion of Poetry Slam (oral and performance poetry). After graduating in physics from the University of Pavia, he devoted himself to artistic training, (studying with Gabriele di Luca, Giuliana Musso, Giulia T ollis, Chiara Vitti, Andrea Campelli and Monica Bonomi, among others) until he developed a performative research that combines art, theater, science and physics.
He has presented his work in collaboration with, among others: Fondazione Corriere della Sera at BookCity Milano (2022), Cattolica University Milan (2023), Elfo Puccini Theater Milan for Hystrio Festival (2023), No’hma Theater in Milan for La Milanesiana (2024), Fondazione T eatro di Roma and T eatro India Roma for Dominio Pubblico Festival (2024), FringeMi Festival (2024), T edX Pavia (2024).
Since 2021, he has devoted himself to performance poetry, until becoming National Poetry Slam Champion in 2022 and representing Italy and gaining important recognition on the international level, including becoming the 2023 World Poetry Slam Champion; winning the 17th edition of the Coupe du Monde of Poetry Slam in 2023 in Paris which was organized by Grand Slam (Paris , 2023); becoming the European Vice-Champion in 2022 at the European 2022 Poetry Slam Championship in Rome organized by WOW – Incendi Spontanei, LIPS- Lega Italiana Poetry Slam and WPSO – World Poetry Slam Organization (Rome, 2022); representing Italy in Brazil at the 13th edition of Festa Literária das Periferias (Flup) (Rio de Janeiro, 2023). Filippo Capobianco was also instructor part of the international poetry slam workshop (in English, Italian and German) within the Italian-German literature project “TRANSRIVA – Libro in vista” for Goethe-Institut Rome and VIAVAI – Italian-German Youth Exchange Office (Rome, 2023).
