The Italian Cultural Institute of Washington invites young readers ages 4–10 to join our monthly series In biblioteca in italiano with Fiorenza Castelli — a fun journey through Italian stories and culture, open to all languages. Each session pairs themed readings with hands-on activities. The reading will be held outdoors, weather permitting.
Reading in Italian with Adapted English Translation
For our April meet-up we will read La città nascosta (Hidden City) by Luca Tortolini with illustrations by Victoria Semykina. Published by Edizioni Corsare in 2021. A city is like a whole world. There are places and people we know — and mysterious places, inhabited by strangers. It’s easy to get lost, but just as easy to find yourself again. We turn a corner, then another, and suddenly we don’t know where we are. There is a hidden city waiting to be discovered. Recommended age: 5 and up.
