A cinematic exploration of Brumidi’s artistic legacy in the United States, the documentary examines his works in the U.S. Capitol and the White House, with a focus on the Rotunda, the Senate Corridors, and six special rooms.
Through interviews with Italian and American experts in art and conservation, filmmaker Antonella Ciancio brings renewed attention to an Italian immigrant who gave magnificent visual expression to the democratic ideals of a young nation. His work draws on Italy’s great painting traditions and the techniques and colors of Pompeian frescoes.
