MORE INFO

Station North Arts & Entertainment District
Located in the heart of Baltimore, Station North was the first area in Baltimore to receive the State designation as an Arts & Entertainment District in 2002. Spanning the neighborhoods of Charles North, Greenmount West, and Barclay, Station North is a diverse collection of artist live-work spaces, galleries, rowhomes, and businesses, all just steps away from Penn Station, Mount Vernon, Charles Village, the Maryland Institute College of Art, the University of Baltimore, and Johns Hopkins University. There are now 22 Arts & Entertainment Districts in Maryland, and similar programs in dozens of states. Station North continues to serve as a national model for Arts & Entertainment Districts.

Mission
Station North Arts & Entertainment, Inc., a 501(c)3 nonprofit, employs an arts-based revitalization and placemaking strategy by managing quality public art projects, providing thought-provoking programming, and forging strong supportive relationships with local artists, designers, residents, businesses, and institutions to guide development in the Station North Arts & Entertainment District.
Station North Arts & Entertainment, Inc. strives to ensure that the District builds on its reputation as a nationally recognized creative hub and maintains its appeal to a diverse population of locals and visitors from near and far.

OWB2 Project Description
Station North will host Open Walls Baltimore 2, an international festival of site-specific street and installation art, from March through May 2014. Building on the immense success of the inaugural Open Walls Baltimore in 2012, OWB2 will feature an enhanced focus on relevance to the architectural and neighborhood history of Station North. More than 15 outstanding artists from Baltimore, New York, Europe, and South America, selected by curator Gaia, will create large-scale painted murals and installations on publicly and privately owned buildings. These sites have been selected to draw visitors across the District, to produce artistic gateways to Station North, and to challenge artists to tell the story of legacy and revitalization in this central Baltimore neighborhood, which is experiencing renewed vibrancy through the arts.

OZMO

Born in Pontedera, Pisa in 1975, Ozmo made his first steps in the comics world, but since early 90s he soon moved his focus on writing and painting. In short time his tag would have become one of the most famous and respected ones in the Italian graffiti scene. A special reportage dedicated to Ozmo on 'Aelle' – the most famous urban culture underground mag in Italy – will consacrate him as one of the leading figure in the national underground writing scene. After having attended the Fine Arts Academy of Florence, in 2001 the artist moved to Milan, where he’s been working with the mayor art galleries choosing his own name as signature and leaving his tag behind for a while. Beyond the institutional artworks, in his first Milanese years, Gionata Gesi starts to work in the public space as Ozmo as well, filling the streets of Milan with drawings, stickers, big posters and graffiti. And right back in that days, together with a group of friends, he’s laid the foundations of Italian Street Art, becoming one of the pioneers of this XXI Century avantgarde.
