Marco Ciampi Piano Recital

Award-winning Neapolitan pianist Marco Ciampi will play works of great composers in a tribute to Italy, including Morricone, Scipione, Marvulli, Colasanti and Scarlatti. In his program, Ciampi will also play an unpublished work by nineteenth-century composer Constantino Palumbo. Ciampi has won over 30 national and international piano competitions, and he has appeared as a soloist at venues such as the Seymour Centre in Sydney, Venice’s Teatro La Fenice, and Moscow’s International House of Music. He is also the Art Director of Accademia Musicale Internazionale of Formia.

The concert at the Embassy is part of a series organized by the European Union National Institutes of Culture (EUNIC) Washington, DC cluster.

Marco Ciampi

The pianist MARCO CIAMPI graduated from the prestigious Conservatory “San Pietro a Majella” in Naples in 2003 with the highest marks and praise.
His piano studies started under Professor M.L. D’Alessandro, continuing under the pianist A.Pennella, (pupil of A. Benedetti Michelangeli and Marguerite Long and Finizio). He  completed his formation by h M° Ciccolini, Howard, Lucchesini, Maione, Marvulli, Pompa-Baldi,Spagnolo.
He studied also composition and conducting in Naples’ Conservatory.

Ciampi has won over 30 national and international piano competitions, including those of Rome, Salerno, Venice, Naples, and Pesaro. In 2005, he won the second prize (the only prize awarded) in the Italian National Competition “Talent for Music” held at the Conservatorium of Venice.
He has performed in prestigious venues such as the “Steinway Hall” in London, the Theatre “La Fenice” in Venice, the Theatre “Coccia” in Novara, the Theatre “Diana” in Napoli, the Theatre “Rossini” in Gioia del Colle, in Castel Sant’Angelo and Valdese Church in Rome, to great acclaim from the critics and the public.

In 2006, Ciampi performed Rachmaninoff’s 2nd concerto with the orchestra of the Royal Theatre of Cosenza, Philharmonia Mediterranea, and in 2008 in the Theatre “Di Costanzo Mattiello” in Pompei, with the orchestra of the Campania Region.

In 2008, Ciampi was awarded the first prize of the International Piano Competition at the Melboume Italian Festival. After only two months he was invited again, performing at the “James Tatoulis” Auditorium in Melbourne. He was also a finalist in the Sydney International Piano Competition, where he performed at the Seymour Center Theater in Sydney. The performance was broadcast live on ABC Classic FM radio.

In 2008 he played Liszt’s virtuoso Malédiction with the orchestra “Le Muse”, conducted by L. Simionato, in the prestigious festivals Jeux d’Art a la Villa d’Este in Tivoli, in the Sorrento Summer Music Festival and “Palazzo Barberini” in Rome.
In 2009 he had a tour in Serbia, the concerts of which were broadcast by RTS (Radio Television Serbia) and Vatican Radio.
In July the critics wrote about his concert at the prestigious 46th International Festival of Cervo: “Masterful performance last night at the Festival ….”
Recently he played Chopin Concerto n.1 op.11 with the “Le Muse” Orchestra in Rome, and with the Quartetto Savinio in Gaeta.
In 2011 he is giving masterclasses and concerts in Germany, France, Norway and Italy.
In 2012 he performed Rachmaninoff’s 2nd concerto with the filarmonic orchestra “Busoni” in Parthenope University in Naples and with orchestra “Città di Fondi”in Theatre “Paone” in Formia and Theatre “Cafaro” in Latina.
He ‘s Art Director of Accademia Musicale Internazionale of Formia.
