Cinema Italiano: A Better Way to Stay Home is back with The Time of Indifference, the highly anticipated third feature film by Leonardo Guerra Seràgnoli, based on the homonymous masterpiece by Alberto MoraviaGli Indifferenti.

The Ardengo family – Mariagrazia and her children Michele and Carla – despite the bourgeois appearance, live beyond their means relying on Leo, a greedy businessman and Mariagrazia’s lover. The man’s intention is to take advantage of her recklessness to seize the only asset left to the family: the beautiful attic in which they live. To prevent Leo’s plans, the family falls apart and all members must face their own demons. Carla, the 18yo daughter, surprisingly, is the only one to react, stand tall with her head high, and eventually, finally shake the entire family from their long-standing indifference.

LEONARDO GUERRA SERÀGNOLI 

Leonardo Guerra Seràgnoli starts his career as a musician, graduating in Film Scoring from Berklee College of Music in Boston, in 2007. 

In 2006, he shoots his first short, Carne e Cielo. At the same time, he starts Essentia (now Cinedora), a production company which funds indie movies such as M. Blash’s The Wait, Bradley Gray’s Jack and Diane, Carlo Lavagna’s Arianna, and Maura Delpero’s latest film, Maternal

Between 2008 and 2010 he moves to the US to shoot W.A.R., Will, Alfred & Rachel, a trilogy of short films that provides an intimate look at war and constitutes the basis of his development as a screenwriter and director. 

Back in Europe, he moves to London to continue his training and he graduates in Screenplay Writing from the London Film School. In 2015, he takes part in the Berlinale Talents. In 2013, he writes and directs his first feature film, Last  Summer,  which screens at the Film Festival in Rome in 2014, earning three awards. 

In 2017, together with three young and very creative actresses (Angela Fontana, Blu Yoshimi, and Denise Tantucci), he writes, directs, and produces Likemeback, a feature film on the theme of friendship in the social-media era, which participates to the 71st Locarno Film Festival in 2018. 

The Time of Indifference, based on Alberto Moravia’s novel by the same title, is his third feature film.
