Tutto quello che vuoi (Friends by Chance)

Alessandro (Andrea Carpenzano) is a tempestuous young slacker. He has lost his mother when he was two, and has become the torment of his father – a peddler in Porta Portese, the local flea-market – who can’t imagine a future for that idle and furious son, and is unable to find the key to his heart. Giorgio (Giuliano Montaldo) is a former poet in the early stages of Alzheimer syndrome: he can still move, but his mind is drifting relentlessly away from the present.

The two live within a stone’s throw of one another, but their paths have never crossed… until Alessandro is forced to accompany the old man on his afternoon walks.

Director Francesco Bruni received a Nastro d'Argento Award for Best Screenplay for this heartwarming dramedy presented for the first time in Washington DC on the occasion of World Alzheimer's Month.

FRANCESCO BRUNI

Shortly after making his screenwriting debut with Condominio (1991), Francesco Bruni sparked a long and fruitful collaboration with director Paolo Virzì, with whom he’s written almost a dozen films. Their most recent collaboration, Human Capital (2014), was a festival juggernaut and won numerous awards, including the Nastro d'Argento for Best Screenplay.

Bruni’s directorial debut Easy! (2012) won him the David di Donatello and Nastro d’Argento for Best New Director. For his third directorial feature, Friends by Chance (2017), Bruni drew on personal experience to bring the characters of Giorgio and Alessandro to life.
