The Italian Cultural Institute of Washington, in collaboration with the Morgan State University, Baltimore, MD (JELMA), in the context of the celebrations of Black History Month, invites you to attend the reception organized to present “The Recovery Plan: Alle porte coi sassi“, a pop-up cultural center curated by BHMF displaying works by artists Kelly Costigliolo, Adji Dieye, and Christian Offman.
The reception will be hosted at the James E. Lewis Museum of Art (JELMA), at Morgan State University, on February 23, 2023, starting at 5 pm through 8 pm. – Guests are invited to mingle in the atrium and galleries. Around 6 pm the curator of the exhibition, Dr. Schroeder Cherry, will welcome guests and introduce Morgan State University’s President , Dr. David K. Wilson, Vice President, Dr. Don-Terry Veal, Dean, Dr. Mbare Ngomthe, JELMA’s Director Gabriel Tenabe, the Director of the Italian Cultural Institute, Dr. Elettra La Duca, and other sponsors and collaborators. – Light refreshments will be offered. The reception will end at 8 pm.
Parking will be available behind Carl J. Murphy Fine Arts Center.
In a nutshell, the exhibition reflects on the recovery of underrepresented and under-narrated fragments of Black history within the Italian cultural context. The exhibition is open through March 31st, 2023. Visitors are welcome Tuesday – Friday from 11 am – 4 pm. It is hosted at Morgan State University, between the spaces of the James E. Lewis Museum of Art (JELMA) and the Martin D. Jenkins Hall.
