2021 marks the Centenary of the Birth of Leonardo Sciascia, the Italian writer famous for his investigative work on the exploitation and use of power for personal gain.
The video below is from the the presentation event (held on Friday, July 23, from 6:00 to 7:00 AM ET, of “Lezioni Sciasciane nel mondo” (Sciascian Lessons in the World) organized by the National Committee for the Sciascian Centenary with the patronage of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
A series of appointments in the form of lessons, seminars, workshops, and readings that started in Italy and will now continue in the world. The purpose of this initiative is to spread the desire to read Sciascia’s books to expose younger generations to the great powerful ethical value and sense of civic duty contained in them.
