The Future of Manufacturing: A Conversation with Italian Industry Leaders

This workshop will be offering engineers and industry leaders an opportunity to debate on the future of advanced manufacturing.

The current Technology Transition, driven by digital transformation, will have a dramatic impact in almost all industrial fields, from the automotive to the naval sector, from traditional to additive manufacturing.

In the automotive industry, hybrid/electrical self-driving cars will reduce crashes and carbon emissions. In manufacturing, 3D printing and manufacturing-as-a-service will allow for mass, inexpensive customization with low or no distribution costs.

Italy is the fourth largest economy of the EU (including UK) accounting on its own for about 11 per cent of the total output; it has the second largest manufacturing base in the EU (after Germany) it is strongly integrated in the EU production chain and it is one of the largest goods exporters.

This workshop aims to bring together US and Italian industry leaders and to promote a discussion on the impact of emerging technologies on Manufacturing.
